About Mari Mu
To say I love beautiful environments is an understatement.
I marvel at the dance between shapes, colors, textures, sounds and smells, and I very much understand ambiance to be a multi-sensory experience.
Many years ago I got a clear message that one of my roles on this planet is as a Temple Keeper. In other words: a tender of sacred space. Sweeping the floors, tending to the plants, resetting the pillows, lighting the candles, preparing the tea, arranging the space for ceremony.
In many ways, I’ve embodied this in my own home, which is of course the birthplace and creative headquarters for Quiet Altar.
I’ve welcomed hundreds of people through the years for medicine journeys, subtle bodywork sessions, and approximately one million cups of perfect temperature tea.
I take great pleasure in creating space that supports people in being able to settle and soften. SO many people have told me through the years that I could be an interior designer, but I say time and time again that I only have eyes for precisely my own style, and that the process of creating it is a slow art.
I believe it’s less that they’re having a positive response to the objects in the room, but more so having a harmonic sensory experience and feeling the care and attention that is poured into the space before they walk in the door.
Aside from helping people simplify their homes I offer psychedelic ceremony, subtle bodywork, private sauna sessions, and intimate community gatherings at my sanctuary home in Glassell Park in Northeast Los Angeles. You can learn more about my other offerings on my other site:
